Dog Bites and Other Animal Bites |

| 1. | Follow your doctor's instructions. |
| 2. | Leave wound open to air as much as possible. |
| 3. | Use bacitracin only and not products that contain neomycin. |
| 4. | Clean the wound with saline solution .9% and not hydrogen peroxide. |
| 5. | Return immediately if the wound becomes red and swollen or displays a discharge. |
| 6. | For dog bites, confirm with the owners of the dog that the dog is up to date with all injections. |
| 7. | Check with the Suffolk County Department of Health with other wild animal bites for the possibility of rabies. |
